Waste disposal operations

In the summer of 2021, I started a unique waste disposal service to fill a need for a commercial builder friend of mine from Boise.  He uses an OSB box for waste collection, which is then emptied on site with a grapple truck.  He utilizes this type of waste removal exclusively in the Treasure Valley for both residential and commercial builds. After purchasing property from a local developer to build 8 four-plex(s).  He was surprised to learn that no one in the Magic Valley offered this method of construction waste removal, which presented a business opportunity for me.

For general construction, residential or commercial, it is billed at $.50 per sq.ft. of the property being constructed. For example, a 4000 sq.ft home would cost $2000 for the entire job.  ½ up front and ½ at the completion of the project.  Pick-ups are completed weekly, unless more often is needed – at no additional cost.  All that is required are 4 sheets of OSB to create a box, placed in a location that is accessible for my truck, but close to the project so it’s convenient for the builders to dispose of waste.

In comparison, a 45ft roll off is normally placed a good distance from the project and the high sides make it difficult for workers to safely dispose of waste. There are separate charges for delivery, for final pick up, daily charges in addition to the per dump charge.

Dumpsters do not have the capacity of an 8’X 8’ box and as you know, there is a monthly fee which includes one pick up per week.  If extra pick-ups are required, there is an additional charge. Unlike my boxes, they tend to attract individuals who like to drop off their personal trash in the cover of darkness. This could require an additional pick-up and expense to you. Unless you know exactly how many months it will take to complete the project and exactly how many dumps, you can only estimate your waste removal cost; with my service, it’s a known expense.

On a side note, the box has many advertising opportunities from your business name/logo as depicted below, or the name of the bank or title company on the project.
